Today’s manufacturing industry will have you believing you’re a part of The Jetsons’ futuristic life. The Falcon 9 Rocket launched seven satellites at the same time, GE will build engines with 3D printed parts, and SpaceX Hyperloop pods will take you from Los Angeles to San Francisco in 45 minutes. WHAT?! These three examples are beyond our imagination and yet they are happening right now, changing our paradigms about planes, trains and automobiles (and now rockets!). At companies like Rhinestahl AMG, there are jobs for CTE students working on projects just like these.
These impressive innovations are also creating changes in the workforce. Literally, there are thousands of jobs within the fields of construction, welding and machining that are waiting to be filled by Career tech graduates. Companies are counting on you to educate our students and we are here to help with internships, summer co-ops, and more. Although there are thousands of jobs, there are too few students pursuing a CTE career. So, how do we help you recruit more students into your career programs?
As Educators, you play a critical role in facilitating the education and guidance of students into career pathways. Students want to be challenged and have a steady job while earning a good wage. Companies can fill those needs by providing jobs that come with good benefits including tuition reimbursement for college – that’s right – the best of both worlds. This is a parent’s dream come true!
The first step in closing the skill gap is bringing more awareness to the CTE pathways. This includes actively promoting the benefits that come with a CTE certification. Here is what you can do:
