Last month, Chmura Economics attended our first ACTE CareerTech VISION conference. We were blow away by one of the best conference experiences we have ever had.
What made our VISION experience so special were the educators who attended. We could not believe the enthusiasm and curiosity of everyone we met. I led three sessions, each of which were filled to capacity with committed, knowledgeable educators. The questions participants asked and the conversations afterwards showed that ACTE attendees wanted to understand subject material at a deep level. VISION attendees genuinely cared about topics ranging from using Perkins V as a way to improve courses to visualizing data. Any presenter will be thrilled with the intelligent discourse around their work that VISION enables.
One of the conference’s hottest topics was Perkins V. With most states having submitted or soon to submit their plans to the federal Department of Education, local leaders are beginning to wonder what they will need to satisfy the law’s requirements. We hope we dispelled a little anxiety with our discussion of the labor market information required in the Comprehensive Local Needs Assessment (CLNA), and we would be thrilled to partner with your school to use Perkins V to provide the maximum benefits to your programs. ACTE has made materials ready to guide local educators through all the Perkins V requirements.
I would be remiss if I did not mention that ACTE was an ideal conference host. Corporate partners will be thrilled with ACTE’s efforts to connect them with one another and potential clients. The conference draws in so many knowledgeable people that Chmura was able to meet more potential clients than any conference in its recent history and maintain relationships with current clients. ACTE organized a focus group for Chmura filled with knowledgeable administrators from across the country that gave us valuable feedback on how to make our products and services even more impactful. At Tuesday’s “Workforce Development Through CTE Summit 2.0,” Chmura got to work with coalitions representing multiple industries to develop resources and messaging that will help to strengthen the impact of industry/education relationships. Throughout the entire conference, ACTE officials displayed none of stress they surely felt and addressed our every need with smiles on their faces.
Chmura is already looking forward to the 2020 CareerTech Vision in Nashville. If you are an educator who wants to learn from knowledgeable peers or a business that needs to reach CTE clients, start making your travel plans now.
